Lucas County deputy involved in crash

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Lucas County Sheriff's Deputy Molly Mason was involved in a west Toledo crash Wednesday morning in a patrol car.

It happened at Berdan Avenue and Douglas Road around 9:15 a.m.

Toledo police on scene say Mason was headed north on Douglas when she ran a red light at Berdan. They say she realized she didn't stop for the light, but didn't stop in time – running into a white Ford Mustang. The Mustang went into a yard and through a privacy fence.

Mason's vehicle lost a tire, lost control and hit three cars stopped at the light in the southbound lanes of Douglas Road.

Only Mason was hurt in the crash. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to be checked out. No other injuries were reported.

The southbound lanes of Douglas were blocked for more than an hour between Georgetown and Berdan while vehicles were towed and debris was cleared.

Toledo police say they have charged her for running the light.
