CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

United Airlines (UA) will launch new service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) to Oklahoma City Will Rogers International Airport (OKC) on Thursday, February 14, 2013.

The flight, which will join Nashville as United's second new city launched from the Airport since December 2012, will bring United's roster of destinations from CLE to 61.

"We are extremely gratified that United is adding new destinations to its CLE hub, and Oklahoma City, with its petroleum business linkages, is a natural addition to our evolving portfolio of routes," said Airport Director Ricky Smith in a press release. "We look forward to welcoming passengers using the new service to the airport."

The outbound service will operate Monday through Saturday, departing at 8:40 am and arriving in OKC at 10:40 am. The return flight will operate every day except Saturday, departing OKC at 10:57 am and arriving at CLE at 2:20 pm.

Oklahoma City is the capital of Oklahoma and a leading petroleum industry center.  The service will offer nonstop service to oil company executives and technical staff participating in the Utica shale oil development. The Utica play, in tandem with the overlapping Marcellus shale play, are rapidly transforming the Northeast Ohio economy, with the Utica development alone projected to stimulate over $17 billion in economic impact in the region in the 2011-2014 period.
