CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Right now all northeast Ohioans are dealing with pump pain.
Gas prices jumped up a few weeks ago and the high prices haven't reversed direction.
Now drivers are making big changes to save money.
A month ago the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Ohio was $3.25. Now it's $3.70.
"I'm feeling it. I'm feeling it," said one driver. "It's crazy. Gas prices just keep going up."
Yes they do. We saw prices as high as $3.85 per gallon for unleaded regular and well over $4.00 for premium.
That has some literally changing how they live.
"I used to go to Columbus to see my mother a lot more but I'll probably go every other weekend now instead of every weekend," said A BMW owner.
"I probably can't get that extra beer at the bar that I want," said another driver. "It's Valentine's day. This is the first time I've been out all year. I think that's change enough right there."
Prices at the pump are putting pressure on consumers. How much? Well it depends on who you ask.
"There is no vacation plan," said a Clevelander.
Unfortunately, there's no good news. The U.S. Department of Energy predicts gas prices will rise faster than expected this year for a variety of reasons.
That average of $3.70 per gallon here in Ohio is about seven cents higher than the national average.
But look at the bright side, if you were living in Hawaii, you'd be paying about $4.25 a gallon --the highest in the nation.
