12-year-old girl charged in Mentor school threat

MENTOR, OH (WOIO) -

A 12-year-old girl arrested and charged for a threat at Mentor Memorial Middle School.

A bomb threat was found written on the wall of a girl's restroom on Tuesday afternoon.

The school initiated emergency procedures and evacuated the students to Garfield Elementary. A search of the school was performed by Mentor Police and school officials along with a bomb detecting dog. No explosive device was found. All of the students were eventually dismissed from Garfield Elementary.

As a result of the investigation, a 12 year-old female student was arrested and charged with inducing panic for writing the threat and causing the evacuation.
