CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath announced Thursday that Detectives in the Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit have identified a suspect in two east side rapes using DNA evidence.

Michael Grant, who is currently being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on an unrelated Burglary charge, was identified as the suspect in two rapes, both of which occurred on Cleveland's east side.

A search warrant was executed on Friday, February 15, 2013, during which time a DNA sample was taken from Michael Grant.

The Cuyahoga County Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (CCRFSL) expedited the testing and verified the offender in both cases to be Michael Grant.
