CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO/CBS) -

More than two dozen NASCAR fans were injured after a crash near the finish line of the Nationwide Series Race.

A multi-car accident on the last lap of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Race in Florida sent pieces of a car into the stands – injuring fans.

Rookie Kyle Larson's racecar flew into a fence that separates the track from the stands.
The force of the crash sheared off the front of his car.
The engine was stuck in that divide and officials say a tire and other parts hit fans.

20-year-old Larson walked away from the crash. Tony Stewart won the race but said this is not a time to celebrate, he's more concerned with making sure the drivers and fans are ok.

"We've had a couple big ones I've been a part of some of them. But I've never seen anything like this. This was one of those times I wish I didn't have a rear-view mirror because that was an ugly sight," said Tony Stewart.

Emergency crews are still cleaning up the mess from the crash. Workers quickly evacuated the stands at the Daytona International Speedway.

Rescue workers took several people to the hospital.

NASCAR officials say 14 people were taken to the hospital and another 14 people were treated for injuries at the track.
