Cleveland (WOIO) - If the Browns hold firm at # 6 in the draft, and I believe they should, they should think defense, specifically, a guy who can get to the quarterback, whether it's a game-changing linebacker like Georgia's Jarvis Jones, who can thrive in the new 3-4 hybrid, or a stud defensive end, like Florida State's Bjoern Werner, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
The concern with Jones, of course, is the stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column, which has scared off more than a few teams. But Jones was given the green light by a neck and spine specialist at the Combine. That's good enough for me.
Much of the offseason talk concerning the Browns has been about the offense. What else is new? And they will address that, in free agency AND the draft. But their top three picks a year ago were used to bolster the offense. At least two of those, Trent Richardson and Mitchell Schwartz, are here to stay. We'll see what they do with Brandon Weeden. But now it's time to put a game-changer on the other side of the ball.
