The 49'ers want to trade QB Alex Smith, I hope the Browns don't even pick up the phone. I don't understand the fascination with this guy that some fans seem to have. I have a several reasons why I can't see him helping the Browns, here are the top three.
While I'm here, let me blow another myth out of the water. Alex Smith did not lead the 49'ers to the NFC Championship game in 2012. Jim Harbaugh and the 49'ers lead Smith there. He threw for 3,100 yards and 18 touchdowns. Exactly how is that leading a team anywhere? When you say a guy leads a team somewhere, it connotes putting them on his back. Or at least being a strong contributor, certainly more than 3,100 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Alex Smith for a draft pick? Sorry. I'll pass. I don't know if Brandon Weeden will ever lead this team to a Super Bowl, but I do know that Smith won't.
