Prison for men involved in RTA attack

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Four men have been sentenced to prison for attacking a man on an RTA rapid train.

Ronald Woods and Manuelle Williams each got seven years. J.L. Williams and Deionty Austin each got four years.

J.L. Williams is the father of one of the men, and the uncle of two others.

RTA Police tracked the suspects down after they attacked a man coming home from work last year.

The suspects punched and kicked the victim, who has a learning disability, about the head and body until a witness pressed the emergency button on the train.

Police and EMS arrived and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of a fractured jaw, a broken nose, stitches to his lip and mouth and severe swelling to his face.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutors believe the man was simply singing to himself. The attackers thought he was talking to them.
