AKRON, OH (WOIO) -
In Summit County Common Pleas Court, Chad Cobb pleads guilty Tuesday to murdering his ex-girlfriend last June.
Cobb, 31, abducted Ashley Biggs, 25, from her home in New Franklin on June 20, 2012.
Biggs, the mother of Cobb's six-year-old daughter, was working as a pizza delivery driver when Cobb had a female caller lure Biggs to an empty office parking lot in New Franklin.
Cobb tased and beat Biggs before strangling her to death with a zip tie. He then stuffed her body in the back seat of a car, which he abandoned in a cornfield in Chippewa Township in Wayne County.
Cobb and Biggs had been going through a very contentious custody battle over their daughter.
Cobb pled guilty to aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, retaliation, tampering with evidence, grand theft, abuse of a corpse, and possessing criminal tools.
As part of the plea agreement, Cobb agreed to a sentence of life in prison with no parole eligibility. He faced the death penalty if the case went to trial.
