Cleveland (WOIO) - It turns out, sometimes everybody can win. Just look at Tom Brady and the Patriots. By taking less money, far less, than his market value in a contract extension to remain a "Patriot for Life", Brady makes it possible for the team to continue signing other key free agents, something Joe Flacco should take notice of, although, of course, his reps have already said he won't.
Brady wins in more ways than one. He strengthens his image as the ultimate team leader...he reiterates that winning another Super Bowl is his biggest priority...and, oh yeah, he also sets himself up for five more seasons with a guaranteed $57 million. The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus, so nobody's suggesting that Tom will struggle balancing the checkbook. But....by "settling" for $9 mil a year in his extension (half of what Flacco's seeking from the Ravens), Brady helps the salary cap significantly, stays in a system in which he thrives, and proves that the grass isn't always greener, nor are the dollar bills in a bigger contract.
