San Francisco - How much is too much, when it comes to landing your franchise quarterback? Maybe the first overall pick in the draft, but after that, the price is right. That's the way the Kansas City Chiefs are approaching it, because according to the San Jose Mercury News, they're sending a second-round pick in this year's draft, and a similar pick in next year's draft, for the 49'ers quarterback.
This year's second-rounder is second overall, but again, well worth trading, if Smith turns out to be the quarterback the Chiefs believe he is. The Chiefs will almost certainly extend Smith's deal, having paid that steep of a price.
