Thanks to help from Onstar, Mentor police solve a hit skip accident involving a suspected drunk driver.
On Friday, Feb. 22 around 7:20pm, Onstar reported a crash at State Route 306 and Smokey Bones.
Witnesses called the dispatch center reporting a black Cadillac Escalade was involved, yet it fled the scene.
A Honda Element was left disabled in the roadway.
Dispatch worked with Onstar to locate the vehicle as it fled to Willowick.
Willowick Police and Mentor Police Officers located the Cadillac at a business and identified the driver, Richard Marucci, 56, of Willowick.
Police say Marucci was obviously intoxicated. He was arrested for ovi and hit skip.
There were no injuries in the crash, but both vehicles were heavily damaged.
