ALLIANCE, OH (WOIO) -
The police department in Alliance smells a little....funny.
This, after detectives broke up what is believed to be the largest indoor marijuana growing operation in the department's history on Tuesday.
According to police, the entire department smells like marijuana from the massive raid, and they are looking for someone to donate air fresheners! The smell is so overwhelming, police had to close the jail for a day, and several employees felt sick.
Officers confiscated 260 marijuana plants in various stages of growth up to six feet in height. Also found in the S. Seneca Avenue home was an elaborate lighting and ventilation system, fertilizing system and growing aids. Also among the items found was over $7,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the grow operation, scales, packaging and shipping materials, records, computers and documents.
Robert Baumgartner, 41, has been charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.
