FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

A five-year-old boy has died after being trapped in a submerged vehicle for nearly 30 minutes on Friday night.

James "Bubba" Harris died Friday night at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

According to sources, the family was getting ready for a short trip when the incident happened. Two kids and a dog were in the car while the parents were in the house.

The car rolled down the driveway and into a pond behind the house around 6 p.m.

The child's older sister and family dog were initially in the vehicle, but were able to escape the vehicle.

Florence Police say the James was submerged in the water for 30 minutes before rescue units could pull him out.

James was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident still remains under investigation.
