GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -
On Saturday evening, March 3, 2013, police were called by Kmart staff to report a woman leaving their store located at 12501 Rockside Road with stolen merchandise.
Officers noticed the woman driving north on Canal Street and that's when a pursuit began.
She lead the police on a chase that lasted a few minutes but soon lost control of her vehicle.
At 5:25 pm the chase ended with the suspect's vehicle hitting a pole located at the intersection of Maryland and Warner.
Authorities say that a child around the age of 3 years old was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
No information is available about the suspect's or the child's conditions at this time.
Traffic has been directed away from the area.
