University of Akron forward Rachel Tecca has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

This is the fourth time this season and the sixth time in her career Tecca has earned the conference's weekly award.

The redshirt junior shot a blistering 65.5 percent from the field en route to averaging 28 points per game over Akron's two big wins last week at Rhodes Arena. Against Ohio, Tecca led six Zips in double figures with 24 points in 25 minutes, adding three steals and seven rebounds.

Tecca outdid herself against Miami (Ohio), posting career-high marks in points (32) and steals (six), and also picking up seven boards and three assists. She was 12-of-14 from the free throw line, including 4-of-4 in the final 10 seconds to secure the victory over the RedHawks.

In addition to scoring double figures in 28 straight games, Tecca has scored 20 or more points in six of her last seven outings to lead the Zips to their first 20-win season in school history. UA has clinched at least a share of the MAC East Division title, and is now guaranteed a top four seed in the MAC Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Ball State's Brittany Carter earned the weekly honor for the West Division.

Akron travels to Buffalo Wednesday for its final game of the regular season. Tip-off at UB's Alumni Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
