MADISION TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

An local family is concerned after a dog they adopted from a shelter mauled their little girl.

"I feel like it's all my fault. because I'm the one who wanted the dog,"  There's no way Tanya Bisbee could have known what two-year-old Joey, the Boxer mix, would do to her 7 year-old daughter Katlynn.

When the attack happened Mom, Katlynn and her sister were petting the dog. "She was petting his head, I was petting his side, she was petting the other. He let a small growl out and he lunged at her," said Tayna.

"He just jumped on me and he bit my head and my hand," said a shy Katlynn.

The attack happened Saturday.

"I thought he got her in the throat and he was going to kill her," said Tayna

All total Katlynn needed 24 staples for the two serious gashes in her skull.

The Bisbee family had just adopted Joey the day before from the Lake County Dog Shelter.

The family had spent three hours with the dog at the shelter and though the match would be a good fit.

When the attack happened Joey had been in their home less than 24 hours.
