New Features Include Advanced Enterprise Routing Protocols to Maximize Network Uptime
Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) March 05, 2013
CradlePoint, the global leader in 3G/4G wireless networking solutions for distributed enterprises, today announced the release of version 4.2.0 of its firmware.
“With the release of firmware version 4.2.0, our enterprise routers now have advanced routing protocols (VRRP, OSPF, BGP), which allow our customers to increase the intelligence of their networks, improve reliability, and maximize uptime,” said Tom Loutzenheiser, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. “CradlePoint routing solutions now communicate more efficiently with other routers that have these advanced protocols. Many of our enterprise customers already use the failover feature on our networking solutions to provide a redundant connection for business continuity. Now, in addition to WAN connection failover, if a business’ main router fails, the CradlePoint router will recognize the failure, take over the connection as the primary router, and keep the business online for complete router redundancy.”
CradlePoint’s release of firmware 4.2.0 also includes the GPS NMEA sentence additions for the CradlePoint COR IBR6x0 series and Site-to-Site Dynamic VPN with NHRP for enhanced security on its flagship routing devices. With further support for GPS, the CradlePoint COR, with its small form factor and semi-ruggedized housing, will continue to set the standard as the go-to connectivity solution for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications like kiosks, digital signage, surveillance, and vehicles, which frequently depend on flexible networking capable of geo-location.
“The feature upgrades released in firmware 4.2.0 combined with CradlePoint’s cloud-enabled application management platform, WiPipe Central, are reflective of our end-to-end solution approach,” noted Loutzenheiser. “For enterprises with large fleets of CradlePoint routers, WiPipe Central supports the deployment, management, and enhanced intelligence of geographically-dispersed systems. This includes the ability to group routers, configure and manage them, and download the latest firmware with just a few clicks avoiding the use of costly truck rolls or on-site technical resources.”
