PORTAGE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Portage County Drug Task Force Agents, acting on a tip uncovered a methamphetamine lab at 261 S Sycamore Street, City of Ravenna, on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 and arrested Amanda Neal, 29 years old and Anthony Gibson, 29 years old, both of 261 S. Sycamore Street, Ravenna, Ohio.

Both were charged with Illegal Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, a felony of the 1st degree, Illegal Possession of Chemicals and Components, a felony of the 2nd degree and Child endangerment, a felony of the 3rd degree.

According to Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak, members of the Portage County Drug Task Force received an anonymous tip of a possible methamphetamine lab at the S. Sycamore Street residence where children are present.

The residence is a multi-family apartment complex. Once Task Force officers were able to confirm the information and locate a lab inside the residence, they evacuated others living in the apartment complex with the assistance of Ravenna Police Department.

Task Force members who specialize in Clandestine Drug Lab Clean-up searched the residence and collected evidence samples and dismantled the lab, due to the high risk of fire hazards associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Ravenna Fire Department was called to the scene to provide safety measures while the lab team dismantled the lab and recovered the appropriate samples. A chemical disposal company was called to the scene to remove the toxic chemicals.

Task Force Agents will present additional evidence to the Portage County Prosecutor's Office seeking additional charges.

Portage County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Portage County Sheriff's Office, Portage County Prosecutor's Office, cities of Aurora, Kent, Ravenna and Streetsboro and the Village of Garrettsville and Windham, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S Department of Homeland Security.
