A 38-year-old Westlake man hospitalized after a late night police pursuit.
Police observed the suspect driving in and out of parking lots in the Crocker Road area around midnight Thursday. After committing a number of moving violations, he was signaled to stop by an officer. Instead of stopping, the suspect fled westbound on Clemens Road and then northbound on Bradley Road into Bay Village, becoming airborne when crossing the railroad tracks. At the intersection with Lake Road, he failed to negotiate a left turn and hit a fence and tree.
The man was taken to St. John Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries. He has not yet be arrested or charged.
A temporary license plate stolen on Wednesday from an Elyria woman's 1994 Ford SUV was found on the 1994 Ford SUV that the suspect was driving. Items in that vehicle have tentatively been linked to a theft from auto reported at a hotel in the area where the suspect was first spotted.
A search warrant is being sought to recover more suspected stolen property from the suspect's vehicle.
