CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
More trouble at John Adams High School in Cleveland.
A gang called Benham rumbled with another from E. 102nd on Thursday afternoon. Police had to be called to assist school security forces. Multiple EMS and police units responded, and pepper spray had to be used to break the fight up.
A source tells 19 Action News that the spray was "thick in the air." It went through vents of the school, affecting other uninvolved teachers and students.
A district spokeswoman confirmed the incident, but said they have no comment other than "it was quickly broken up and the strictest discipline was applied to the students involved." Cleveland Police confirm that they were called to the school at 12:46 p.m.
The fight is just the latest in a series of violent events at the school. Many have been caught on cell phone video. To date, the district has been unable to curb the violence.
