STOW, OH (WOIO) -

Police in Stow were called to a Burton Drive home Thursday afternoon for two people possibly using drugs.

Once on scene, officers discovered a man and woman hiding in the basement. The basement was filled with smoke and there was heavy chemical odor in the air. The Stow Fire Department was called to ventilate the house.

Further investigation indicated that the two individuals hiding in the basement had been in the process of cooking methamphetamine utilizing the "one pot" method. Investigators discovered an improvised reaction vessel along with precursors, chemical components, lab waste and other equipment and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Sarah M. Bimshas, 26, and Joseph D. Papp, 34, were arrested and charged with illegal manufacturing of drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

An eight-year-old child of Sarah Bimshas was also in the home. The child was taken into custody by Children's Services pending further investigation.
