CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

All lanes of I-90 in Cleveland are back open, but the entire freeway was shut down for most of the weekend after a truck slammed into a pedestrian bridge.

After several delays getting the right heavy equipment to the scene, the difficult and tedious job of dismantling the heavily damaged bridge got underway.

Most drivers who saw the damage and people who live in the Collinwood neighborhood along I-90 were amazed that the highway is back open in time for Monday's rush hour.

A dump truck with it's bed raised slammed into this pedestrian bridge early Saturday.

"There's approximately 100-110 vehicles that use that area daily," said Amanda Lee from ODOT. "There's a lot of cars that rely on this route to get to and from Cleveland and we don't want to inconvenience them even more than this accident already has."

"I was just amazed that one man's mistake could cause so many people so much discomfort," said one Cleveland man.

The 35-year-old truck driver from Warren is expected to be cited, and his trucking company will be billed for the massive clean up.
