WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Chippewa Firefighters were called to an oil storage tank fire near the intersection of Taylor and Clinton Roads Friday afternoon.

The fire was reported just before 4:30pm, when crews arrived the tank was fully involved.

There were no injuries, but three homes across the way were evacuated as a precaution and because of heavy smoke in the area.  They were out for about 2 hours and have since returned home.

According to the fire department, the fire is out and a clean up crew is on sight and are removing what is left of the product from the tank.

This well is owned by Dominion, they say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

No oil leaked into the surrounding areas.
