INDEPENDENCE, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News has your latest update on the Strongsville teachers' strike.

The Strongsville City Schools Board of Education and Strongsville Education Association

met this afternoon, Sunday, March 17, with the federal mediator at the Federal Mediation and

Conciliation Service regional office in Independence.

This was the third meeting with the federal mediator since the teachers' strike began on March 4th, but the first with the negotiation teams present.

The meeting was called by the federal mediator.

Based upon this meeting, there are no meetings scheduled for the near  future. The parties remain substantially divided on key issues.

The teachers union president Tracy Linscott says that the board was firm with standing by their Last Best Offer proposal and was not open for discussion.

At this time it appears that Monday, March 18th will mark the start of the third week of the teacher's strike in Strongsville.
