GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

Week Three of the Strongsville teachers strike.

Garfield Heights police confirm a large piece of asphalt was thrown through the front doors of the Northeastern Ohio Education Association building on Saturday evening.

The Strongsville striking teachers held a press conference there on Saturday afternoon. They had invited board members there, too, but no members showed up.

Both sides met with the federal mediator on Sunday, but remain divided on key issues. The school board will not budge from it's last, and what is called "best" offer.

The strike has been tense, with picketing teachers screaming at substitute teachers, as well as blocking the entrances to schools.

The district is asking teachers to pay more of the healthcare costs. Teachers want to unfreeze a merit pay system the district had.
