SALEM TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a body found on the railroad tracks in Salem Township. So far the identity of the body is unknown.

Ottawa County Sheriff Steven Levorchick says the body was discovered around 11:10 a.m. Monday by Oak Harbor Police. It was discovered along the tracks just outside of Oak Harbor so the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department is in charge of the probe.

According to officials, the body was discovered by another passing train. Levorchick says the body suffered some injuries and his office cannot determine if the man fell from an eastbound train or was already in the track area and was hit by an eastbound train.

The body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for autopsy.

Officials say the body is that of a Hispanic male between the ages of 40 and 50. He was wearing a blue and purple shirt, blue coat with black tennis shoes.

An investigation is ongoing.
