AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) -

Elaine Freeman, wife of North Ridgeville Police Chief Mike Freeman, pled no contest Tuesday morning to the charge of petty theft. Freeman appeared in Avon Lake Muni Court.

Freeman was arrested for shoplifting health and beauty products at the Target store in Avon last November, while shopping with her two-year-old son.

She must complete the economic crime program and continue any counseling recommended by them.  Freeman will also be monitored by the court for two years.
