STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

Strongsville High School students began their preseason sports practice sessions Tuesday in preparation for the March 30 season start, according to Strongsville City Schools Superintendent John Krupinski.

"All Strongsville High School spring sports teams commenced practice on Tuesday, March 19th, including boys tennis, baseball and track, and girls softball and track," stated Krupinski. "Practice was delayed due to the teachers' strike. It should have started on March 4th for softball and baseball and on March 11th for tennis and track. Although our student-athletes have missed some practice time, they will have nearly two weeks to prepare for the regular season which starts on March 30th."

Strongsville City Schools has appointed coaches and volunteers who are not part of the Strongsville Education Association (SEA) or teachers' union strike.

"Non-SEA contracted coaches and approved volunteers are overseeing spring sports," explained Krupinski. "The necessary certifications for coaches and background checks have been completed."

Middle school track is currently on hold.
