Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course named Jack Hanna, executive director of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Grand Marshal of The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 2-4.
Additionally, the Columbus Zoo will bring animals to the track on Sunday, August 4. More details on the location and animals will be available closer to the event.
"I am so honored to have been invited to attend The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio this summer - I cannot wait to meet all of the racing fans! I have known the Rahal family for almost 30 years and am so proud of my godson, Graham. He has done so much to support the Columbus Zoo, and I can't wait to come to the track to cheer him on!" said Hanna.
Hanna has been to the track dozens of times due to his close relationship with another Ohio legend, Bobby Rahal, who has competed at the track most of his life.
"Jack Hanna is a name known to race fans and the general public alike. What he's done for Central Ohio, zoos and animals all over the world is remarkable. We have to thank Graham Rahal for helping us secure Jack for the role as their relationship was key to getting him out here this summer," said Mid-Ohio President Craig Rust.
Hanna is Rahal's Godfather. The Graham Rahal Foundation and Mid-Ohio partnered earlier this year to benefit the Columbus Zoo.
