MUNSON TWP, OH (WOIO) -

The Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that happened on Auburn Road just south of Sherman Road.

It happened around 3:45 a.m.

Troopers say a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was northbound on Auburn Road when the vehicle crossed over the centerline and traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a ditch.

The vehicle came to final rest in the ditch with very minor damage.

The driver, 72-year-old Joseph Gall of Chardon was transported to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center by Munson Township EMS.

Gall was pronounced dead at the Hospital by the Geauga County Coroner.

He was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be a factor in the crash. Gall may have possibly had a medical issue that contributed to the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
