Update: Teen picked up in deadly house party shooting

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police have a teenager in custody in connection with a house party shooting that turned deadly.

Monday police picked up a 17-year old. Due to his age, the suspects name has not been released.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning. Cops were called to the 1300 block of E. 66th just after 1 a.m. for a male that had been shot.

When officers arrived, they located a male that had been shot in the head.

Police say Kortez McRae, also 17, was at a party at a house on E. 66th when he got into an argument with another male.

The argument moved outside and during the argument police say a black male walked up to McRae and shot him in the head.

After shooting the victim the suspect fled the scene southbound on E. 66th Street.

EMS was notified, responded to the scene and conveyed the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information in connection with this incident to contact the Third District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5318.
