Spring has NOT sprung!

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The calendar says it is spring, but the snow started falling early Monday morning and did not let up and it made for a very interesting morning commute.

Heavy snow all over the area and the west side was not spared, the snow piled up, up to four inches from the west side to the east.  Plow drivers who probably figured they were done for the season were out in force clearing the wet snow from parking lots and roads.

"Just the usual, I live only fifteen miles from downtown but it took at least thirty minutes. Fun stuff," said Doug Merritt.

And the snow kept coming, fast and furious, so much so, that at mid-morning the downtown skyline was not visible, even if you were standing downtown.

"I am ready for the summer already,  it's been a long winter, it's been cold, it's Cleveland we have to deal with it, that's all we can do," said Clevelander John Brzozowski.

Progressive Field was covered in a heavy wet blanket of snow and the Indians and Yankees are hoping to play baseball in just two weeks.

"Typical Cleveland weather and opening day is April 8th, right around the corner, it might snow then too. We're going to have to break out the snowplows to play baseball," said Tribe fan Merritt.

Most took the nasty weather in stride figuring it won't be long until the weather gets better and we find ourselves in the middle of the summer heat.

"We'll be back fishing and complaining about the heat real soon, so everybody keep their heads up and stay focused," said Clevelander Marlon Crumady.
