CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

On Thursday, March 28, 2013, Cleveland's newest and finest proudly stood ready to become full fledge police officers.

Before they can hit the streets of Cleveland, they had to march into city council chambers for a welcoming ceremony.

The ceremony honors them and provides a chance to express their gratitude to those that gave them hope and guidance.

The Coleman brothers are among the cadets of the 129th graduating class.

Officer Sean Coleman represents multiple generations of officers within his family.

Coleman says he's honored to wear the same badge, #1591, that his family members have worn.

The Coleman brothers, graduating in the same class, say it's been nice to have a familiar face from day one.

Mayor Frank Jackson welcomes each new officer. Jackson says, "The reason we do this is for the public safety and having more police officers on the street does help in that we want people to understand that Cleveland is a safe place."
