CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

For more than two years the doors to St. Patrick's Church were closed.  There were no services during Holy Week last year but it's back open again to the delight of many in the community.

A very happy Peggy Kelly arrived with a friend for the Good Friday Mass at the church in West Park and she was not alone.

"This is our holiest day of the year coming up.  Easter Sunday.  Words can't even express what a glorious day it will be," said Pat Schulte-Singleton

For more than two years, the church was silent.  It was one of 50 parishes in the Cleveland area that was forced to shut down.

"It's a staple factor in this community.  The hunger center.  We run a lot of missionaries out of the church and those people would be put to the wayside," Katherine Kullman.

"Very difficult. Very difficult.  I just live down the street.  My front yard, I can see the church.  It was hard for those two years.  But I knew we would be back. Thank the Lord we are," said Schulte-Singleton.

When the Vatican overruled the closing of 12 Roman Catholic Churches in our area, the doors opened again.

"It's great.  It's a great feeling.  I never gave up hope. Everything is falling together like it was meant to be," said Katherine Kullman.

"They had to fight for it.  They had to go to Rome for it.  Finally, we got the O.K." said Peggy Kelly.

Peggy Kelly, has been going to the church since 1963 and now she's set to celebrate Easter Sunday here once again.
