Toronto (WOIO) - Two games, two strong performances from their starting pitcher, and two wins for the Indians, as they rallied to beat the Blue Jays in 11 innings on Wednesday night, 3-2 at the Rogers Centre.
Ubaldo Jimenez followed up Justin Masterson's opening day effort by putting up identical numbers, going six innings (like Masterson), giving up only three hits (like Masterson) and giving up one run (like Masterson). But unlike in the opener, Chris Perez wasn't able to close it out, giving up a game-tying home run to Jose Bautista in the 9th.
Michael Brantley, who went 4-for-5, put the Indians on the board first, with an RBI single in the third.
Macier Izturis answered for the Blue Jays in the bottom half of the third, taking Jimenez deep for a solo home run to tie it at one, the only mistake Ubaldo would make.
Carlos Santana put the Tribe ahead again in the 8th, when Izturis threw away his ground ball, and Brantley scored to make it 2-1 Indians.
Bautista's home run send it to extra innings, setting the stage for Reynolds' heroics.
