CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Should a man convicted of killing a Cleveland Police officer and wounding another in 1973 be released from prison?

Floyd Graham shot and killed Cleveland Police Officer Fred Vacha and wounded his partner John Saccany.  He was sentenced to two life terms in prison.

In June, he will make his case to be released before the Ohio Parole Board.  It is a mandatory hearing, but to make sure he stays behind bars, the Cleveland Fraternal Order of Police is launching a petition drive urging that he remain locked up. It hopes to gather thousands of signatures by May 17.

19 Action News Reporter Paul Orlousky will speak to surviving Officer John Saccany, the FOP, and others involved in the case. He will also take you back to the time of the shooting and the emotional funeral of Officer Vacha.
