RICHMOND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

A 73-year-old Richmond Heights man has been indicted for trying to kill his wife by tampering with her car.

Detectives tell us the victim's husband wanted to make sure his wife wouldn't be around so he came up with a plan he thought would get rid of her -- luckily it didn't work.

Records show his wife had an accident in February. She said the car unexpectedly accelerated. Police later found wood chips in the engine.

Nail salon owner Sophieda Din says she thought it was a freak accident when a car came crashing through her Richmond Heights business.

"I'm shocked . When I heard all the information today this afternoon I said oh my God," said Sophieda.

Ronald Miller has been charged with attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder, assault and violating a protection order.
