CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

A local doctor has been charged as a drug trafficker. Dr. Samuel Nigro is accused of taking money on the side from patients to get them drugs.

Records show the drugs included oxycodone, methadone, and adderall.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors have charged Nigro with trafficking, tampering with drugs, and even attempted engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Nigro has been charged by way of information which usually means a suspect is cooperating.

However, when we went to the doctor's home in Cleveland Heights, he told us he was clueless about this.

"I don't know anything about it," Nigro said. "That's not true. I'm not going to talk to you."

Nigro, 75, is a psychiatrist. We're told he has treated patients in Lakewood, Beachwood, and Cleveland Heights.

Prosecutors believe the drug dealing went on for about four years.

We also checked on the doctor's license. He gave it up last summer.
