Cavs' "interesting" 4th quarter strategy falls short vs. Pistons

Posted: Updated:

Cleveland (WOIO) - The Cavaliers came up with an interesting new strategy on Wednesday: Hack-a-Drummond, as they fouled Detroit's Andre Drummond, a poor free throw shooter, repeatedly in the fourth quarter. It worked, to a degree, as Drummond went 9-of-17 from the line, but still ended up with a game-high 29 points, as the Pistons held off the Cavs, 111-104 at Quicken Loans Arena.

Kyrie Irving led the way for the Cavaliers with 27, 11 of those coming in the fourth quarter, and he also dished out 9 assists.

But it wasn't enough to help the Cavs beat the Pistons for the first time this season.

The Cavs are down to their final four, with the Knicks coming to town on Friday.
