CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A local doctor has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.

Dr. Samuel Nigro pleaded to trafficking, tampering with drugs and attempted engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. He has already agreed to pay $250K.

Dr. Nigro is accused of taking money on the side from patients for drugs. Records show the drugs included oxycodone, methadone and adderall.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutors estimate he sold pills to up to 45 patients. Cleveland Police Narcotics Unit and the Ohio Pharmacy Board led the three-year investigation.

Nigro, 75, is a psychiatrist. 19 Action News has learned he treated patients in Lakewood, Beachwood and Cleveland Heights.

Nigro gave up his doctor's license last summer.

He will be sentenced next month, and could face up to 14 years in prison.
