Tentative agreement reached in Strongsville teachers strike

STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

On Friday, April 26th, at 1:00 pm, the Strongsville Education Association met with the Strongsville Board of Education, the meeting lasted for about seven hours.

SEA has confirmed that a tentative agreement has been reached and that teachers could possibly be back in the schools as early as Monday, April 29th.

This comes after eight weeks of a very tense and heated strike.

Parents and students have recently demonstrated their frustration with teachers not being in the school for the past two months.

A ratification meeting with the teachers is said to be taking place on Saturday, April 27th.

"We brought something back to our members that we thought they would ratify, so I'm confident they will ratify it," said Tracy Linscott, SEA President.

The Strongsville Board of Education sent out a statement regarding the tentative agreement:

This evening, the Strongsville City Schools Board of Education (BOE) and Strongsville Education Association negotiation teams announce they have reached a tentative agreement. Details regarding the settlement will not be disclosed until both parties ratify the agreement. Both negotiation teams recommend ratification.

"The past eight weeks have been difficult, but the healing process begins today," said David Frazee, BOE president. "We want to thank the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service regional office in Independence for their efforts. We also appreciate the work of the negotiation teams."
