Double-digit violations were found during inspections at more than one location this week, from dirty walls and floors, to broken toilets and appliances.

A sewer gas smell is the aroma inspectors picked up on during their April 16 inspection at the Gourmet Garden Chinese restaurant on Monroe Street in Sylvania. A total of 22 violations make up the report, including build-up covering a sink, hood filters, can opener, ceiling tiles, wall surfaces, rice cookers and warmers, plus some cooking equipment and prep tables. Inspectors also found a broken toilet in the women's restroom, along with damaged, unused equipment and rust on kitchen shelves.

The Sylvania Diner is making progress, according to inspectors. It's clean, organized and no longer has an issue with cockroaches. However, a couple issues still need to be fixed, especially when it comes to dating food and covering it in coolers.

Brownstone Tavern is serving up 12 violations. The facility along Alexis Road in west Toledo is in need of deep cleaning throughout the kitchen. Inspectors found food uncovered in the cooler, raw eggs stored above other products, and very little date-marking. Additionally, no chemical sanitizing is being released in the dish machine and build-up can be found inside the ice machine.

Generation's Family Restaurant on Alexis Road in west Toledo is working to clear up five violations. Proper handwashing is unknown because there was recently a lack of hot water coming out of a sink. Inspectors noted grease and food debris need to be wiped clean behind the kitchen grills, and cleaning needs to be a priority when it comes to the restaurant's floors, walls and equipment.

Five violations were found at A Mango Restaurant on Monroe Street in west Toledo. Raw beef was found stored above bread, frozen meats were thawing at room temperature, sinks were blocked and grease is building up on floors.

Want subs, pizza, or something a little more fun for lunch? Feel free to order your favorite sandwich at the Airport Highway Subway in Swanton, a slice of pizza at Marco's Pizza on Central Avenue in west Toledo, or a wrap and smoothie at Tropical Grill in the Franklin Park Mall. All three received violation-free reports during their latest inspections with the health department.
