Sophomore pitcher Brian Clark was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District First Team, as announced Thursday (May 2) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Clark leads the Golden Flashes in saves this season with six. He has a 2.11 ERA and a 1-2 record in 18 appearances this year. The lefty has two saves and a win in his last three appearances. Academically, the sophomore carries a 3.90 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in exercise science.
Clark is one of eleven student-athletes earning First Team honors in NCAA Division I District 5. He will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
In 2012, Clark was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and was Second Team All-Mid American Conference.
