Officer just back on job after shooting suffers serious dog bite

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland Police officer is recovering from a nasty dog attack, and he had just come back on the job after getting shot in his bulletproof vest and wounded.

A dog took a chunk out of the lower leg of officer Robert Taylor. It happened Thursday on E. 117th during the arrest of a drug suspect.

Taylor had been back on the job only weeks after he got shot in his bulletproof vest during a struggle with a suspect. That happened in January.

The dog attack, just the latest violent encounter for Taylor.  In 2011--he and his partner shot and killed a man when that suspect drove at officers in a vehicle.

We're told the dog bite came after a drug suspect ran from a car. A report shows Christopher Greer got a misdemeanor citation for pot. Greer does not live where the incident happened. The dog is believed to be some kind of Collie.

As for the person shooting the officer in the vest--still no one caught for that.
