The sights, the sounds, even the smells, were of pure relaxation.

It was a long time coming.

It was much deserved.

Mothers usually bedside by their sick kids at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital spent a day instead, being pampered at John Roberts Salon in Mayfield Heights.

Manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, new makeup and new doos make Mayfield Heights a world away from feeding tubes, leukemia and cancer.

2-year-old Lilly Scott's mom, Jackie Scott says "She has had to go thru chemo and had stem cell transplant.  She's on a feeding tube, but she's a happy baby no matter what."

13-year-old Dymond Cook has a rare immune disease. 14-year-old Alicia Fleming came in for an eye exam and found out she has leukemia. Katrina McDowell's son Kaiden, just 14 weeks old, is in the hospital with complete kidney failure.  He needs a kidney soon.  Little 8 month old Nastia has brain cancer.  15-year-old J.R. Kerin needs a bone marrow transplant.

Their mom's would normally be keeping constant vigil at Rainbow Babies and Children's hospital.  There's state of the art technology there and doctors of worldwide acclaim.  Still, none of the moms at John Roberts Spa today was mincing words about the worry within those hospital walls.  McDowell says being there, "Well, sucks. A lot. We've been there since he's been born.  We're there all the time"

But today, being in the lap of luxury was a nice break…

"It feels great to be here let the stress go", said Alicia's mom, Brenda Fleming.

Lilly's mamma, Jackie Scott agreed.

"It's a gift from god! This was way beyond what we was what we NEEDed."
