San Francisco, CA -

A bride-to-be is one of five women killed in a limousine fire that happened on Saturday, May 4, 2013, in San Francisco, California.

The tragic incident happened around 10 p.m. as the ladies, along with four other women, were on their way to a bachelorette party.

The California Highway Patrol said the limo was going west on the San Mateo bridge when smoke began pouring out of the rear passenger area.

The driver and those in the front of the vehicle were able to escape the flames but the fire spread so quickly that the women in the back were unable to get out in time.

Emergency crews got the fire under control before it engulfed the entire limo, but the rear one-third of the white, 1999 Lincoln Town Car was completely burned.

All five were pronounced dead at the scene.

The four women who escaped were taken to area hospitals where they were being treated for smoke inhalation and burns.

Rosita Guardiano told the San Francisco Chronicle that the bride-to-be was to be married next month.

Guardiano says her daughter — 42-year-old Mary Grace Guardiano of Alameda — is in intensive care, where she's being treated for smoke inhalation. Three other woman also suffered smoke inhalation and burns.

In addition to Ms. Guardiano, the other survivors, Jasmine Desguia from San Jose and Amalia Loyola from San Leandro are both in critical condition.

San Mateo County Supervising Deputy Coroner Michelle Rippy says autopsies are being conducted to determine the exact causes of death of the five who were not able to make it out of the burning limo.

All of the women, those that died and those that survived, were all in their 30s and 40s.

The driver was not injured. His name has not been released.
