Life in prison for gunman in deadly July 4th shooting

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland man was sentenced to prison for a deadly July 4th shooting.

Jermaine Jackson was sentenced to life in prison with no parole possibility until after 28 years.

On July 4, 2012, Jackson, 32, fatally shot Tanya D. Coleman, 31.

The suspect shot the victim multiple times in the torso and shot at two additional females. He was arrested the same day and was in possession of a .380 caliber Cobra pistol.

Jackson has prior convictions for felonious assault and drug offenses.

On May 3, Jackson pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder with firearm, notice of prior conviction, repeat violent offender.
