Competency evaluation ordered for teen accused in savage double murder

SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The court has ordered a competency evaluation for the teen accused of brutally killing his girlfriend's parents in New Franklin.

Shawn Ford, Jr. faces the death penalty if convicted of murdering Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert.

Ford is accused of murdering the couple in their New Franklin home on April 2, as well as assaulting the couple's daughter and his girlfriend, Chelsea, on March 23.

The judge ordered the state to turn over defendant's statements to defense counsel within 24 hours.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 21.
